The Breeding & Genetics Section promotes discussion, information exchange, and understanding of potato breeding and genetic challenges, and encourages research and innovative approaches to solve these issues.

Agency Membership in the PAA Certification Section is limited to individuals who are current PAA members and who hold an official role within a legally authorized and constituted seed potato certification agency operating throughout the North and South America. For the purposes of this policy, an official role is defined as a position that includes responsibilities directly related to the execution of seed potato certification procedures.
The Certification Section works to strengthen the seed potato industry by:
- Improving certification procedures.
- Exchanging information among seed potato professionals.
- Encouraging research directed toward improvements of seed potato performance.
- Promoting uniform regulations and consistent identification of seed quality.
- Upholding high ethical standards for seed producers, dealers, and certification officials.
Extension, Production & Management Section
The Extension, Production & Management Section supports the advancement of potato production and management by encouraging research, education, and professional dialogue, and by facilitating collaboration and communication among PAA members and external stakeholders.

The Plant Protection Section promotes communication, collaboration, and professional exchange among individuals involved in potato pathology, entomology, and weed management. The Section supports the advancement of knowledge related to disease, insect, and weed issues affecting potato production, storage, and marketing, and fosters the development of research, educational, and informational programs that serve the interests of its members and the broader potato industry.

The Utilization & Marketing Section supports the advancement of potato utilization and marketing by encouraging research, knowledge exchange, and innovative solutions related to harvesting, handling, transportation, storage, and market development, while facilitating communication with organizations sharing these interests.

Section leaders are to submit their annual report of activities to the PAA Board of Directors using the online submission form. Section reports will be included in the annual PAA Year in Review Report, which will be published in PAA Connect and posted on the PAA website.
