Outstanding Extension Project Award Nomination​

​About the Award


The Outstanding Extension Project Award was established by the Extension Section of The Potato Association of

America (PAA) to recognize exceptional Extension projects or programs that have significantly contributed to potato

education. Eligible projects may include printed publications, websites, workshops, newsletters, or other impactful

initiatives. The Selection Committee will award the selected project that is awarded at the PAA annual meeting during the award banquet.

Eligibility and Nomination Requirements

PAA Membership and Annual Meeting Requirements

  • ​The nominated Recipient must be a current PAA member in good standing.

  • For team nominations, at least one person must be a current PAA member in good standing.

  • Nominators are not required to be PAA members.

  • The Recipient is required to attend the PAA Annual Meeting to receive the award, unless exempted by the Selection Committee because of extenuating circumstances.​

Project/Program Scope

  • ​The project or program must be related to Extension type activities. 

  • Project must be either ongoing at the time of the PAA Annual Meeting or completed within the last 30 months (2.5 years) prior to the PAA Annual Meeting.

Nomination Packet Requirements

  • Project or Program Title
  • Project Authors or Coordinators
  • Project highlights, impact, and outcomes
  • ​A written review (up to 1,000 words) detailing the specific project or program's contribution and/or impact to potato education through Extension. (pdf file)
  • Two letters of support (pdf files​)

An online submission form is available when nominations are being accepted. (typically from February - April). 

​Selection Committee and Review Process

  • ​A maximum of one Outstanding Extension Project Award may be presented annually at the PAA Annual Meeting. 

  • The Selection Committee consists of the current officers of the PAA Extension Section and the past Extension Section chair, who will serve as Chair of the Outstanding Extension Project Award Selection Committee.​
