In 2016, the Potato Research Advisory Committee (PRAC) was established to create consensus around the most pressing and far-reaching industry issues—those that can be addressed through applied science and technology. With a membership that includes state managers and growers from across the U.S., PRAC evaluates and supports potato research project submissions to various funding sources, bringing dollars into the potato industry that target industry concerns.
PRAC encourages national collaboration, identifies common research objectives, solicits and evaluates research projects, and creates a focus on a limited number of nationally supported proposals that meet PRAC’s standards. It aligns both the long- and short-term objectives of the potato research community, ensuring that proposals are more competitive, relevant, and broadly supported by all stakeholders.

Submit your project by July 15
Each year, PRAC invites scientists to submit requests for industry support for their research proposals intended for future funding opportunities. PRAC evaluates submissions and endorses proposals deemed to provide significant value to U.S. potato growers, and PRAC-endorsed proposals receive letters of support from industry members nationwide—an essential factor in securing funding.
PRAC will review support requests at our July 30 PRAC meeting. We encourage scientists working in potato research to review the submission guidelines and submit their projects for consideration.
